Ofer Military Court judge rules for PLC member Khalida Jarrar to be released on bail

The judge of Ofer Military Court issued a decision today to release Palestinian Legislative Council member Khalida Jarrar until the end of trial proceedings, on bail of 20,000 NIS and third party guarantees. The prosecution has 72 hours to appeal. It is expected that the prosecution will appeal as they have indicated. The prosecution also suggested that they will request an administrative detention order from the military commander.
The judge indicated that he was not convinced that Mrs. Jarrar poses a danger to the security of the area, particularly citing the fact that the charges against her involved sections as old as 2011. The judge stated that even in the secret file there was not adequate evidence to suggest that her release poses a security threat to the area.
The prosecution submitted the charge sheet on 15 April 2015. Previously, Mrs. Jarrar was arrested on 2 April 2015 and was held under an administration detention order, which was subsequently limited to 1 month and 2 days. She has since been in the custody of Israeli forces since her arrest.
The court room was filled with international and foreign lawyers, representatives from diplomatic missions including the European Union, France, Denmark, South Africa, Switzerland, human rights organizations, and journalists.
